How Euvepro works:

Our day-to day activities are carried out by a specialist secretariat based in Brussels, charged with representing the interests of, and communicating with, the members.

As a sector member of the CIAA, the EU confederation of food and drink industries, we have a "voice in Brussels".

Within the Codex Alimentarius Committee on Vegetable Proteins, we are an official observer.

We maintain strong ties with other interested sector organisations such as FEDIOL and CLITRAVI, as well as consumer groups and national organisations.

We also co-operate with the International Standards Organisation and co-ordinate scientific and consumer research undertaken by our members.

What we have achieved:

Euvepro helped ensure vegetable proteins can be incorporated into recipes at levels where they serve a technical function.

We also ensured the EU has workable legislation concerning the use and labelling of traditional and genetically modified vegetable proteins, giving consumers real choice.

Euvepro has removed local barriers to trade.

We have promoted the health benefits of including vegetable proteins as part of a balanced diet and have helped shape the health claims legislation.
